Next question – Why Bradley®? Funny you should ask. It was purely by accident. Well, I believe in divine intervention and that everything happens for a reason, so I guess it wasn't really an accident. My midwife gave me a list of childbirth educators in the area. I started at the top and worked my way down. The first teacher wasn't teaching a class at that time so I called the next one. I can't remember why I decided against her class, but the third one on the list was our local Bradley® teacher. I had never even heard of The Bradley Method ®. I talked to her and she had a class starting the following week and told me all about it. It was exactly the philosophy I believed in, I just didn't know it had a name! I was sold. And my husband liked the idea of "Husband-Coached" childbirth. We took the classes in preparation for the birth of our first child. We learned and practiced all the exercises. We faithfully practiced our relaxation techniques. We had a detailed birth plan. We made great friends who shared similar beliefs about birth and parenting. We were ready – or so we thought... |
